Gloria Ann (Gallagher) Steffan, Mother of President,
Brian Steffan
Gloria Ann (Gallagher) Steffan, 79, died of cancer on May 26, 2009 at her home in Falls Church, VA.
Born June 12, 1929 to the late Rose Marie (Abraham) and Urban Daniel Gallagher in St. Paul, MN, she attended Villa Maria Academy, Frontenac, MN.
In. 1949, she graduated from the University of Minnesota where she majored in drama, and in 1949, married William J. Steffan, they lived in Cazenovia, NY from 1967 to 1985, where she headed the New York chapter of Questers International, chaired the Corinthian Club and was a founding trustee of the Friends of Lorenzo Museum.
Mrs. Steffan moved to the DC area in 1987 and was employed by the law firm of Klein, Landau and Romm, from which she retired in 1999.
Active in Democratic Party politics for much of her life, in recent years she worked for candidates in northern Virginia and statewide, and for charitable causes locally.

Awards $326,500 in Scholarships!
The Arlington Community Foundation (ACF) Board
of Trustees has just announced $326,500 in scholarship
assistance for 141 students to attend college next year. The scholarship awards
range from $500 to $10,000, many of which are renewable, allowing students to
finish their undergraduate education with financial assistance. Recipients
include 63 high school students who are receiving a Foundation scholarship for
the first time, an increase of 15 students compared to the previous year. The
increase in new scholarship awards was made possible by the new scholarship
funds that were established at the Foundation this year including: the
Arlington Learning in Retirement Inc. Scholarship, Barr Scholarship, Valerie
& Allen Kitchens Family Scholarship, Dr. Robert G. Smith Scholarship, and
Gloria A. Steffan Scholarship,.
Scholarships will be presented at the Arlington Community Foundation's
Scholarship Awards Reception on Monday, June 7th at 7:00p.m. at
Kenmore Middle School, 200 S. Carlin Springs Rd, Arlington, VA 22204. Click here
