Paralegal Coordinator

One of DC’s largest litigation-only law firms with over 700 attorneys located in major cities all over the world seeks a Paralegal Coordinator to support various practice areas in their Washington, DC office.  You will be assigned as a Paralegal on active cases, while also being the Paralegal Coordinator for the DC Paralegal Department in mentoring and supervising junior paralegals.  This is a great opportunity for experienced paralegals looking for more responsibility and growth.

You will work closely with the Office Manager to manage the paralegal staff, as well as manage their own individual paralegal tasks.  Major duties will be to organize documents and coordinate document productions in litigation. Obtain documents and certificates from local or federal courts and state agencies. Prepare and file all court documents and conduct various document searches and research. Prepare witness and matter materials, attend depositions and coordinate trial set-up and logistics. Prepare for and attend client meetings, and trials, assist attorneys during client meetings and court proceedings. Act as liaison among various internal departments and outside vendors, such as translation services, document production vendors and trial graphics providers

As a coordinator you will also monitor paralegal’s daily attendance and timesheet accuracy; arrange substitute staffing as needed. Monitor billable and non-billable paralegal hours, oversee paralegal workload and optimal utilization and assist in the training, orientation and mentoring of new paralegals; assist new paralegals in acclimating to firm formats and policies. Monitor paralegal overtime; assist with arranging overflow, after-hours and trial coverage, coach, mediate and document all paralegal relations issues in conjunction with the Office Manager and interview paralegal applicants for positions as presented by the Office Manager. Identify areas of training; assist with development and maintenance of training program and arrange and facilitate paralegal meetings as needed

Please have BA/BS, (paralegal certificate a plus), at least two (2) years of experience in a law firm environment, performing the full range of paralegal duties and/or supervising subordinate paralegal staff, Substantial and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the litigation process preferred. Proficiency with litigation support technology, and review, production and trial experience preferred and Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Westlaw and LexisNexis preferred

The position is non-exempt and salary is up to $55k. 9-5:30, flexible for paid over time and transportation allowance when over time is worked.
