Patent Prosecution Secretary – Electrical – Mechanical

Up to $60k base and RARE overtime

This job is for someone who can and will commit to their partners (2) who are fantastic, busy, engaging and top of their field in Electrical, Mechanical Patent Prosecution.

One of the world’s premier IP law firms with locations in Durham and all over the world seeks a very rare individual to be a senior patent secretary and report to two of the best and most engaging partners in the City. To be successful in this position you must bring your A game every day, think ahead and anticipate their needs, produce a flawless work product and oversee the other staff’s workflow.

You will be responsible for assisting the head of the department, a senior partner and paralegal. You must possess a mastery of office skills, demonstrate the ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, exercise initiative and judgment and makes decisions within the scope of assigned authority. You will encourage cooperation and teamwork to benefit the Firm. You will maintain an orderly work flow through communication, organization and prioritization. Prepare and file applications and responses with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Monitor and clear daily/weekly docket, maintain IP Files; Interaction with clients and other professionals within the Firm. Coordinate client retainer agreements, billing and collections. Maintain attorneys’ schedules, calendars and client meetings. Coordinate travel arrangements, maintain attorneys’ Firm-related expenses and coordinate entry of attorneys’ time sheets.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have great tenure, 8+ years of progressive patent prosecution secretarial experience, 50+ wpm typing, knowledge of MS Office, CPA, CPi, InProtech and/or PATTSY and other equivalent software systems.
