Controller – Manufacturing and Government Contracts

This fast-growing and very stable electronics manufacturing firm located in Manassas, VA seeks a Controller who will to the President and CFO, You will assume financial responsibility for this operating division of the company whose primary subsidiary is in the electronics segment of the defense and aerospace industry.  The firm sells to both government and government-contracted clients. The firm has locations in Virginia and Frederick, MD, and Long Island, NY.

 

You will be responsible for financial systems and controls, policies and procedures, accounting, budgeting, credit and collections, inventories, costing and cash management working closely with the corporate CEO and support resources in the division.

 

You will assist in the development and implementation of the company’s short and long term business plans. You will be a sounding board and advisor to the division President and corporate CFO on matters relating to productive and profitable management of the company’s operations.

 

You will be hands-on and be capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced, growth environment. You will reinforce the company’s strong team orientation through a participative management style involving all members of the company. You shall be prepared to dig into detailed accounting matters as necessary.

 

You will have interaction with lenders, including commercial banks. This role will have three direct reports in the accounts receivable and accounts payable area.

 

Please have a minimum of 10 years of accounting/finance business experience is required. You should include past P&L responsibility within a mix of mid-sized and entrepreneurial companies, preferably in the manufacturing/ Federal contracting industries, an environment where business acquisitions were completed.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated ability to function effectively in a hands-on environment, and a personality and character that evokes trust while motivates subordinates and peers to perform at optimum levels. A Productive index test will be administered to the final candidates.

 

You should have developed organizational habits and broad experience in manufacturing and assembly environments.

 

You must have a  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, or another relevant discipline is required. An MBA or CPA is highly preferred.
