Manufacturing Plant Manager
This growing midsize high-end wood products manufacturer located in beautiful Elkins, WV, seeks an experienced Manufacturing Plant Manager for their WV plant to take the plant to the next level.
5 days a week onsite, with a possible Saturday as needed based on production. The plant currently has orders through August 2022, and new orders are being added daily.
Salary up to $120,000 depending on experience
You will oversee manufacturing at the Elkins manufacturing plant, ensuring effective and efficient use of facilities and staff. This position reports to the VP of Operations, and this is the most senior position for the company onsite in Elkins, WV.
You will directly supervise two plant managers (day and night shifts), 2 plant supervisors, and 2 team leads with an overall staff of 75 hourly employees working day and night shifts. Work with Human Resources to oversee and participate in the recruitment, hiring, and training of Elkins manufacturing employees. Oversee daily schedules, multiple shifts, and assignments for the Elkins manufacturing plant. Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and following company policy.
You will oversee the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met. Along with manufacturing responsibilities, will oversee purchasing and shipping departments. Will assist with managing vendors and pricing. Reviews and analyze production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met by identifying trends and problems. Ensure a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with headquarters personnel and local HR. Assist VP of Operations with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and new and advanced technology implementation. Identify and share training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills. Deliver progress and production reports to executive team members as requested. Work with VP of Operations and VP of Manufacturing Engineering to drive continuous improvement of processes at the Elkins location. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience with Excel are required.
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
- Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.
- Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as mechanical or industrial engineering is preferred.
- 10-20 years of manufacturing experience as a Plant Manager, Senior Plant Manager, Plant Operations Manager in manufacturing in a small to medium-sized company is required.
- Background in woodworking, especially furniture or cabinet making, is highly preferred.
- Experience leading change by employing lean manufacturing techniques is highly preferred.
The firm is growing and has a planned course for technology integration. The firm works a 5-day week with a possible Saturday based on production. Core hours are 6 am to 2:30 pm for the day shift. The director is expected to be in the office by 5 am, and your day will usually end around 4 pm.
