Commercial – Affordable Housing Real Estate Paralegal

Located near Foggy Bottom Metro

9-5:30 M-F with regular paid overtime weekly.

Work Model: Onsite 5 days a week during your first 90 days and then up to 2 days remote after 90 days. Training will be at the firm’s headquarters in GA for the first 3 days, and then in DC thereafter.

The billable-hour target is 1,500 hours per year.

Salary $80,000-$130,000 plus paid overtime

Overtime can be up to 5 hours a week.

This incredible Am Law 200 law firm with offices on the East Coast seeks an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to support the D.C. office, providing high-level paralegal support to a team of affordable housing attorneys in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group.

You will report to the Human Resources Manager, DC Administrative Partner, Real Estate Practice Group Co-Chairs, and Real Estate Paralegal Coordinator, and have administrative support from two assigned secretaries.

Primary duties will include:

Organize documentation for financing and government review submissions

Title and survey due diligence, including review and analysis of title commitments, title documents, and surveys to identify title objections, as well as interacting directly with the Title Agent and Surveyor to facilitate revisions of title and survey

Organize and manage closing processes, including creating and compiling signature pages, coordinating their execution and distribution, tracking signature status, and ensuring timely completion and delivery to all relevant parties.

Manage corporate due diligence processes.

Draft real estate acquisition and disposition closing documents

Draft entity formation documents, such as articles of organization, certificates of limited partnership, articles of incorporation, bylaws, and operating agreements

Draft consent resolutions, incumbency certificates, interest transfer documents, and similar

File and document organization and maintenance: create new folders and maintain existing folders utilizing an automated records management system; organize files for off-site storage, as well as perform active file maintenance and organization

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients to ensure the expeditious gathering of facts and information

Assemble closing binders

Education and Experience Requirements:

Have a minimum of 4 years of solid experience as a real estate paralegal in a mid-size or large law firm or Title Company, familiar with typical real estate documentation and due diligence, closing processes, and corporate filings.

Possess a Bachelor’s Degree, OR an ABA-approved paralegal certificate, OR both.

Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe software programs, with familiarity in using NetDocs and electronic signature platforms. Itimekeep or Aderant are helpful,
