Estates, Trusts & Probate Paralegal

A well-established law firm in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area is seeking an Estates, Trusts & Probate Paralegal with at least 2 years of experience in estate and trust administration. This individual will provide substantive support to attorneys throughout all phases of estate and trust administration in a collaborative, client-focused practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare probate filings in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
- Assist with the administration of estates and trusts from inception through final distribution, including the transfer and sale of assets.
- Prepare federal and state estate tax returns.
- Manage estate and trust administration matters while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Communicate effectively with clients, courts, financial institutions, and other professionals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- 2+ years of estate and trust administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of probate procedures and estate administration.
- Experience preparing estate accountings and working with probate-related tax and accounting software (GEMS experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with iManage, Microsoft Office, and electronic file management systems is preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
- Understanding of basic estate, trust, and income tax concepts.
- Familiarity with local probate procedures in Maryland, Virginia, and/or the District of Columbia is preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and team members.
