Office Facilities Clerk

7:30 am – 4 PM

One of the world’s largest and most prominent law firms located near 3 metro stops in DC seeks a totally customer service-oriented facilities clerk to assist in making the firm run smoothly.

You will perform handyman work including, but not limited to maintenance and repairs carpentry, painting, drywall and plaster, electrical (changing of bulbs, ballasts and rewiring of lamps), plumbing, doors and windows, and furniture and finishes

You will assess and maintain all building facilities, fixtures and furnishings in satisfactory condition. When the scope of work requires outside service providers, the Facilities Clerk coordinates and plans the requests with outside vendors, engineers, etc. When working with vendors the Facilities Clerk will confirm that a current COI (Certificate of Insurance) and a W-9 are on file with the Property Management

You will assist with office relocations and office set ups for new and lateral hires. Assists Office Services Coordinator with planning of full floor moves and moves from other buildings to the Firm

You will perform daily maintenance inspections of office space and furnishings, and develops for approval plans of action for major repairs

You will provide back-up support for other tasks within the department including Conference Services as needed

You will assist with communicating departmental/organizational policies related to facilities tasks to help customers understand the full scope of what can and cannot be accomplished

Specific Technical Skills:

Previous experience with painting, electrical repairs, office moves, customer service and the use of power tools

Must be computer literate with basic user knowledge of MS Word and Outlook. Must be able to comply with entering time in InTapp and communicating via email

Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints, floor plans, furniture plans and schedules

You need to be knowledgeable of the procedures and safety measures in areas of specialty, as well as familiar with standard concepts and practices within a particular field

Performance Traits:

Must be extremely detail oriented and able to work well under deadline pressure

Must be organized, with the ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and problem solve in order to provide a high level of customer service and satisfaction

Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of end users, vendors and tradesmen, while keeping Office Services team informed

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 55 lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs.

The employee is frequently required to crawl, bend, stoop, reach, walk, push, pull, lift and grasp.

The employee is also frequently required to lift and climb a tradesman’s ladder.

Education/Training/Certifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

2+ years in the field or in a related area.
