Junior Paralegal Project Assistant

This wonderful, stable and growing boutique law firm located near Farragut North/West or McPherson Square Metros in DC seeks a junior Paralegal/ Project Assistant that will support the Firm’s attorneys by utilizing technology to research laws and investigate case related facts. You will assist with editing documents and spreadsheets in Excel and other legal platforms as assigned.

You will assemble documents and maintain case related information and binders for attorney reference; you will maintain positive contact with the Firm’s attorneys, communicate regularly regarding assignments, and observe strict confidentiality of all client and firm matters.  In addition you will coordinate the document management, document production, and electronic databases for the Firm’s attorneys; maintain newsletters, case files and case related documents; research case law (Lexis/Westlaw, Web Searches) and provide data analysis; interpret general business periodicals and professional journals; file correspondences and legal documents in office filing system; ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents; perform due diligence reviews and prepares documents accordingly; manage Non-Profit and Other Client Projects; prepare Conflict Checks on Potential Clients and maintain and update the Firm’s Docketing Calendar.

You must have at least 1-year professional services experience (law firm experience preferred) as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal project assistant, clerical assistant or other administrative positions.

A Bachelor’s degree with a 3.50 GPA or better, proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and be able to work independently or in a collaborative environment and be accountable for your work, be able to manage multiple assignments, and prioritize deadlines.

You must be comfortable with using the computer and have functional knowledge of the internet and browsers, legal research sites such as Lexis/Nexis and Westlaw are a huge plus.

You will work core hours of 9-5:30 M-F, non-exempt position and hours worked up to 40 are paid straight time and hours in excess of 40 per week are paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate.  $40,000 – $50,000.  Benefits include subsidized health insurance, paid time off, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, 401k plan, and profit sharing.
