Litigation Legal Assistant

Washington, DC – Union Station Metro Stop

A 5-day-a-week onsite in a beautiful, social, and cohesive office of 12.

Hours are 9-6 – M-F with occasional paid overtime.

This role is paying up to $105,000k DOE.

This is a rare job supporting ONE high profile Litigation partner. Other attorneys may be assigned later. This partner will join the firm in January 2024 and is said to be very nice, respectful, and busy.

This stable and growing national litigation and regulatory firm with 20 offices nationwide seeks an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to work in the Washington D.C. office.

Duties:

 

  • Prepare, process, and proofread legal documents; Files (including e-filing) and arrange for service of pleadings; scan, email, mail, copies, and/or arrange for delivery of documents to clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and court officials; Calendars deadlines.
  • Maintain filing systems, control records, and indexes
  • Coordinate and participate in document production.
  • Coordinate scheduling of depositions, including scheduling of court reporters.
  • Obtain information using the Westlaw system.
  • Responsible for some regulatory work.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations and materials for client-related events.
  • Open and close files and maintain client and business files by filing and retrieving materials as required.
  • Make travel arrangements through the Firm’s designated Travel Agency.
  • Prepare and edit client invoices for billing purposes.
  • Enter and maintain attorneys’ time sheets, as required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Assist attorney with trial preparation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but not required.
  • 5+ years of litigation experience.
  • Proficient in state and federal e-filing.
  • Ability to type 60 wpm, excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar required, and knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Competent in using computers and Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS.
