 This well-respected regional general practice law firm in Reston, VA, seeks a legal assistant with at least three years of experience working in the real estate field, specifically with commercial transactions and real estate financing, to join their busy growing RE practice group with some of the finest lawyers and paralegals in the legal field. 

Based on experience, education, and background, the firm will pay up to $70,000

Hours are 9 am-5 pm M-F with an hour for lunch, with occasional overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours.

This role is onsite in Reston, five days a week

 You will be a member of the Real Estate practice team, assisting the lawyers in preparing and finalizing legal documents relating to complex transactional real estate dealings.  Support attorneys in preparing, organizing, and finalizing documents and assist in arranging for the execution thereof, including:

Responsibilities:  

Work with county websites, e.g., real estate assessments, tax maps, court records, land records, etc.

Quickly drafting, maintaining, and opening and closing checklists, as well as conflict checks and loan memos.

Coordinating execution of documents.

Organizing and maintaining client and transaction files, including prompt filing of documents in the firm’s electronic database system.

Work closely with clients, loan officers, and other members of the public.

Occasionally answering the main telephone lines and serving as backup Legal Assistant for other staff members.

Requirements

Must be available during the entire month of December (except for Christmas day) as many deals are finalized during this time.

Be familiar with county websites, e.g., real estate assessments, tax maps, court records, land records, etc., and commercial real estate terminology.

This position requires someone who has comfort and confidence using computer programs and a high-level proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Professional applications

60 words per minute typing.

An AA or bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.

Someone who can work both independently and with a team

You must have outstanding attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You must demonstrate patience and be very responsive to questions to become the firm’s T&E subject matter expert.

A writing sample will be required at the start of the interview process.

You must be highly organized, computer literate, and a self-starter with a strong desire to support and facilitate a fast-paced practice with significant client contact.

You must be able to work five days a week in the office in Reston, VA.  Following your training and probationary period, a hybrid option is available.
