Corporate Controller

Sterling, VA location

Up to $150,000, and you must be a CPA

Currently, you will work two days in the office and three days remotely.  All PPE and safety protocols are followed while in the office.  Drive-up business location, no stairs or elevators.

This growing entrepreneurial international family adventure – destination retail company based in Sterling, VA, seeks a corporate controller.  They are looking for an engaged, eager, and excited accounting/financial professional with a CPA to lead the accounting department for 13 locations in the US and Canada.  They need a thoughtful and detailed leader with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and abilities—an experienced Corporate Controller to oversee the corporate accounting functions for their US and Canadian centers.

 

You will oversee the corporate accounting department’s activities for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports, including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits. You will manage an accounting team of 5.  You will prepare periodic debt covenant reporting, ensuring that all requirements are met within prescribed deadlines.  Prepare and analyze detailed key performance indicators. Distribute amongst business units, recommending corrective actions, if any. Manage the month-end close process promptly, ensuring that monthly reports are accurate and in compliance with industry and company standards.  Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.  Monitor cash balances and maintain a detailed weekly cash flow project model. Prepare annual Corporate and center-level budgets.  Ensure all compliance and reporting requirements are met.  Manage the annual external audit and tax preparation activities.

Please have a degree in accounting, finance, or business with a CPA; Please have a minimum of 10 years of progressive professional experience with at least five years in finance and accounting management.  Great Plains and/or other accounting software experience, proficient in Microsoft programs, particularly Excel.  Experience with consolidated reporting and foreign currency measurement and translations a plus.
